We have discussed three different periods of American Literature this semester. The first was the Realism period beginning after the Civil War; the Modernism period, beginning at the start of World War I; and Post-modernism, beginning in the 1940s until…..we don’t know. That’s what you need to answer. In a one page explanation:
1. Are we still in the post-modernist period, when reviewing the characteristics of the writing?
2. If we are, explain how we are still being represented in that period.
3. If we are not, then explain what is the new “ism” we are in. What would you call it? What would its characteristics be?
4. Do you feel that social media has shaped this period? Why? How so?
