Visit a library or an early childhood classroom and observe during the time books or stories are being read or told to a group of children. Do the children focus visually on the storyteller? What questions do the children ask? Do they seem to understand the story? How can you tell? Does the story seem appropriate in content and vocabulary for young children? What kinds of things distract the children? What guidance techniques does the storyteller use in relating to inappropriate behaviour?
