PART B: GROUP POSTER – GUIDELINES

You are free to create your own layout, as long as it meets the content and format specification below and on the course teaching web site.

This poster must be submitted using A LEGIBLE FONT (e.g. Arial 10-point, Calibri 11-point, Helvetica 11-point), single-spaced, not condensed, for the text, with a minimum of 10mm margin for the edges. This format requirement is to ensure that reports can be easily compared, so that people prepare and present their plans under the same conditions.

The maximum length of the poster is 2 A3 landscape-oriented pages & 2000 words (references not included). Poster exceeding this limit will incur in a 15% mark deduction.

You may need to adjust the size of your tables to fit the page. However, all tables must be easily legible (as in this template).

These pages are to be presented in landscape format so as to look better when projected on the screens in class during EXPO-LAB DAY.

You will need to condense your materials. Think about the message you want to communicate, and focus on what you think the reader “needs-to-know” about the various sections of the poster, not what it is “nice-to-know”.

Remember, that this document needs to have enough information in it to “tell a good story” and to reassure the reader that you have addressed the key points in your feasibility assessment.

Make sure you’re able to justify your statements with literature (i.e. academic articles, books, industry reports, etc.). If you can’t find a source to justify a statement, probably that statement doesn’t need to be written in the poster.

All this said, remember that every brand is unique. You may wish to use models that are not included in these guidelines or modify the layout. It up to you to select the models from the course materials and a choose a poster layout, which help you tell the story.

Remember to complete, sign and submit the group assignment cover sheet when you submit the poster.

Remember to include your names and the completion date in the header before submission!

Delete this box and any other comments (in italics) when you have completed your recommendations before submission.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The executive summary IS NOT compulsory. However, if you want to include it, make it short (max 150 words). Make it a concise overview of the key points in your plan. It should give the reader a reasonable understanding of what the poster is about, your main findings and recommendations.

Make sure you clearly state the brand and the market you have taken into consideration. This will help you defend your arguments throughout the poster.

PEST(LE) ANALSYSIS

What are the Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental forces that are OUTSIDE of your brand, but can have an impact on your brand?

PORTER 5 FORCES

What are the 5 forces that determine the competitive intensity and therefore attractiveness of the INDUSTRY your brand operates, not the brand itself.

SWOT ANALYSIS

What are the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats for your brand?

4Ps (7Ps) ANALYSIS FOR YOUR BRAND AND ITS MAIN COMPETITORS

What are the characteristics of your brand in relation to the 4Ps/7Ps? How do these 4Ps/7Ps differ compared to the main competitors?

Think about the best way to show these similarities and differences between your brand and its main competitors across the 4Ps(7Ps) in a clear and concise way.

MARKETING RECOMMENDATION[s]

Describe briefly the specific actions that you will recommend for your brand. Make sure you structure your recommendations as S.M.A.R.T recommendations.

Make sure your recommendations looks like a natural consequence of the picture you have described up until now, in the poster (e.g. if your whole poster focus on a certain market, does it make sense to recommend exporting to a completely different market??)

REFERENCES

It is likely that you will need a minimum of 10-20 references. You do need to be careful when using information from other sources, and reference appropriately using the UniSA Harvard system. The references do not need to fit within the two-page limit.
