Drawing on the readings, lectures and further research, as well as your own culinary experience describe the most memorable meal that you have ever eaten or cooked, explaining the particular reasons why the meal was significant (paying specific attention to the social and cultural aspects). It may have been a meal enjoyed while travelling, a meal that marked a particular occasion (marriage, religious festival etc.) or possibly an unusual meal (because of the ingredients, the circumstances of eating or cooking, the location etc.), or one shared (or eaten alone) under extraordinary circumstances. (It may have been the worst meal you have ever eaten or cooked for a variety of reasons.)
It is important to bear in mind that while everyone eats (and drinks), cooking and eating is essentially a social and cultural activity; and it is the social and cultural dimensions that you will need to focus on in this essay in order to produce an anthropological account of your eating experience. So, it is essential that your essay draws on at least more than two ethnographic case study and at least one of the theoretical frameworks for analysing food and drink that we have examined in this subject.
