Project 5-5: Turn on WPA2 All wireless routers and wireless devices today follow a standard for encrypting transmissions and authenticating users known as WPA2. In this project you set WPA2 on both the wireless router and wireless devices. 1. If Wireless Access Web: is set to Disable you must use a desktop computer that has a wired connection to the wireless router for these configurations; if it is set to Enable you can use a wireless computer. Open your Web browser and enter https://192.168.1.1, which is the default IP address of the wireless router. 2. A login screen will appear. Enter the password and click OK. 3. Click Wireless to display the Wireless settings. 4. Click Wireless Security. 5. Under Security Mode click the down arrow to reveal the options. 6. Select WPA2 Personal. 7. Under WPA Algorithms: select TKIP+AES. 8. Under WPA Shared Key: enter 1234567890abcdefghijklmnnop. 9. Click Save Settings. 10. Close all windows. 11. Reboot the wireless laptop. 12. Double-click on the wireless icon on the lower part of the screen and select the setting to connect to wireless networks. 13. Click on the SSID of the wireless network. 14. When prompted enter the Network key and if necessary confirm it. 15. As an option you can elect to save these settings. 16. Close all windows.
