Theories are important to the field of psychology for a number of reasons. However, the most important purpose that theories serve is to set the stage for research. Yes, most research starts with a theory about something that is happening in the real world.
You will be exposed to a number of theories throughout this course. For the Psychological Theory Presentation, you are responsible for creating a presentation that explains a theory that will be assigned to you. Presentations should be 10-12 slides (not including the title and references slides), and you can only create your presentation in any of the following presentation programs: PowerPoint, Prezi, SlideRocket or Key Note. Make sure that you are creative (i.e., include appropriate pictures and/or videos).

- Make sure that you highlight who was researched and what the research entitled.

Real Life Example
- Provide a real life example of the theory in action.
- This can be a personal example, but it doesn’t have to be.
- You can use information from a news article and apply it to your theory.
- You should NOT simply attach a video and say, “here’s the theory in action.” You need to explain how the theory is in action so that you demonstrate that you know how to apply the theory to real life.
