Introduction:
The ‘epidemic’ of high-prevalence disorders, notably depression and anxiety, has caught political attention around the globe. Depression is said to be the fourth leading contributor to the global burden of disease (WHO 2012). Locally, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW 2012a, p. 117) reports mental ill health as the ‘leading cause’ of nonfatal disease and injury, accounting for an estimated 24 per cent of the total years lost due to disability (AIHW 20llb, p. 1).

INSTRUCTIONS:
Prepare anessayusing scholarly literature that answers the following questions
Choose ONE mental health issue and clearly explain why you think it is a particularly significant problem in Australia. Explain how this mental health issue manifests itself and suggest how it can be addressed.
You are encouraged to consider these issues from the perspective of your discipline (e.g. nursing, sports science, social work, psychology etc.).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Your essay must:
· Utilise at least five different scholarly sources (i.e. journal articles, books, government body reports, etc.) published in the past five years. Two of the sources must be journal articles.
· One of your sources must be the stimulus article which can be found in the assessment section
· Be no more than1100 words in length.
· Include an introduction, a main content area (also called body) and a conclusion. Table 1: Suggested Use of Word Count will assist you to structure your essay.

· Be written in the third person
· Include in-text citations within the essay, and include a reference list at the end of the essay. The reference list should include all literature cited in the essay. The in-text citations are included in the word count. The reference list is NOT included in the word count..
· NOT be the same or similar to a previously submitted essay, if you are repeating this course because this constitutes ‘self plagiarism’.
