Part A – GDP and standard of living Due week 3:
The following country-specific requirements will be assessed: – History on the economic background of the country – Demographics: statistical data about a population. These include, but are not limited to average age of the population, male to female ratio of the population, education levels etc. – Gross Domestic Product (GDP): The total output that a country produces in a given year. Discuss the history of the GDP and the GDP growth. The distribution between industries (agricultural, service or manufacturing) needs to be considered too – Standard of living measures such as GDP per capita, class disparity, poverty rate, quality and affordability of housing, hours of work required to purchase necessities, inflation rate, amount of leisure time every year, affordable (or free) access to quality healthcare, quality and availability of education, life expectancy, incidence of disease and infrastructure etc.
Part B – Cost of living and inflation Week 9. The following requirements must be met (historical, current and future forecasts): – Inflation rates – Exchange rates – Interest rates – Consumer spending patterns – Investment patterns
Part C – Unemployment and fiscal policies Week 13. The following requirements are expected to be fulfilled (historical, current and future forecasts): – Employability – Unemployment rate – Government policies reducing unemployment – Fiscal policies – Monetary policies
Part D – Presentation Weeks 14+15 20 minute presentation outlining the outcomes of this project |
