Arguing is not about raising one’s voice louder that the other individual voices. Instead, it is a skills that takes time to develop. As you consider this reflection dealing with argumentation, I want you to reflect on how you argue. Consider the following questions: Why do you argue? When you do you decide that an argument is worth your time and your energy? When do it become an exercise in futility? Do you consider the other person’s point of view and if so, what do you do with it? How do you guide your responses? How do you know who won?
This is an exercise in self-analysis and as such it should focus on your thought process as much as the nature of rhetoric itself. Be sure to follow the Reflection Guidelines.
