In this essay, you will provide an overview of the server-side and client-side hardware and software requirements of your information system.  You will then focus the bulk of your essay on analyzing the competitive advantage that your information system provides to users of the system (or to the company who created and maintains the system) and on proposing your own recommendations for improving and enhancing the information system with additional features and functionality.

Before you begin writing, download the attached file, AnalysisEssay2Template.docx, and very carefully read and follow all instructions contained in the file.   Also, make sure you compose your essay in the provided template file, as it is already formatted with the correct margins, fonts, headings and sub-headings, etc.

Chosen Information System: Army Food Management Information System (AFMIS)

2 out 3 recommended improvements: One recommendation I would attempt to choose to improve AFMIS is to create an advanced search tab on the site. The site is self-explanatory, but all of the different areas are together and if you’re new to AFMIS, it takes you awhile to figure out what tabs you need to use for your section. I would have it where when each section type in their perspective area, only their required tabs will show. For example, if work in Rations, I should be able to search “Rations” and all of my tabs that I need for my specific task cis shown instead of Admin, Field supply, and FMT information that they need.

Another recommendation would be to incorporate an online debit/credit card system. Everyone does not carry cash on them, so when it is time for them to eat, instead of them having to waste half of their lunch break to get cash or go somewhere who accepts card, a credit card system would draw more customers and keep the administration office from having to have excess money and change.
