Forum 3 – Priorities
Top of Form
According to Dr. Dan Burrell from the presentation, “we fill our schedules so full that we have no margins.” [1] The need for priorities is so prevalent in today’s world with everything that is going and continues to fill time. For personal priorities, I always make sure to spend at least thirty minutes with my husband alone. This is to talk about our day or to help plan what is going to happen in the next few days. Another priority that I make is to have at least 1 hour in Bible study and prayer. I wake up before my husband and children to ensure that I have alone time to spend with God. One other personal priority that I always have every day is making sure to get thirty minutes of exercise. It also helps me to clear my head for work and handling everything I must do in the day. As for professional priorities, I have been working with pastor to spend every Sunday from ten in the morning to noon working with the audio/video team to moderate our online services. This has been something that I have been working on since March due to the pandemic. Another priority with my lead pastor is to have weekly meetings to cover what needs to be worked on and what are the future for the church. One last priority is that I am also in charge of the women’s ministry for the church. I meet with the pastor and his wife to handle what the direction for the women in the church is. This is also a weekly meeting that takes place in person and sometimes over the phone. Each of these six priorities are unwavering as they all need to happen, both for personal health as well as for the health of the church. These are responsibilities that I do not lightly, and I am counted on by several people. I work closely with my pastor almost every day and work on the relationship with my spouse every day. This is how I manage to accomplish all that I do in a day and my calendar is held closely to me so that I do not forget to do anything.
