Topic 1: Physical Security of an IT Infrastructure
When it comes to the physical security of an IT infrastructure, there are an almost unlimited number of possible physical threats, ranging from a fire in the building to a disgruntled employee causing harm to a server. However, for any given organization, there will be a short list of the most probable physical threats that takes into account what is most likely to occur for that organization’s location and business focus.
Consider a K-12 school, such as an elementary or high school in your area. What physical security considerations would you deem important for that school’s physical IT structure? Is your area prone to physical disasters such as tornados or earthquakes? Is the electrical grid in your area reliable? Present a short list of four to five of the most probable threats and explain why you feel these threats are important, as well as what you would do to reduce the physical risks.
