You’ve also discovered that there were three main themes that can be applied to the New Deal:  Relief  Recovery  Reform In this essay, you will demonstrate your knowledge of the New Deal and its three basic concepts, or themes, that governed its approach to rescuing the nation from the Great Depression. You will want to clearly define each of the 3 Rs and select ONE agency/program as an example for each of these themes. Each of those components should take 2 to 3 paragraphs along with a introductory paragraph and a conclusion. As you address each theme, assess the effectiveness/success of the program you select as your example for each theme. Remember to restate this information in a more concise format in your conclusion. Treat this as an in-class essay – it will have NO CITATIONS. Instead, your writing will demonstrate that you have thoroughly digested all assigned material for the course related to the New Deal. Remember that writing a paper is a process and you will want to allow time for revision and editing before submitting your final paper. As always, ONLY the first submission will be graded. This is not about throwing everything you know about the New Deal into a bowl and stirring. Your focus will be to evaluate the three approaches the federal government used as it developed the New Deal, using the agency you select as an example for your specific focus. Stay away from overgeneralization – get to specifics. Refer to comments made on previous assignments to ensure you are continuing to improve your writing. This final assignment is worth 30 points total. Not single-spacing the heading will result in five points being subtracted before further grading commences. The rest of the paper is normal margins, 11- or 12-pt type, double-spaced; indented paragraphs with NO extra lines between paragraphs. INDENTING. IS. ALL The paper should total 3-5 pages for undergraduates, 4-6 pages for graduate students. The normal grade allocations apply – write at least 3 pages to be eligible for a C (4 for grad students); 4 for B (5 for graduate students); and, 5 for A (6 for graduate students.)
