In many countries the proportion of older people is steadily increasing. What problems will this cause for individuals and society? Suggest some measures that could be taken to reduce the impact of ageing populations.
It is true that the proportion of elder people is gradually increasing. This brings a lot of problems to the society and the individuals. This can be explained by the followings.
When the population of older people expands, the resources needed require much more to sustain the operation of the society. The government should allocate much resources to take care of the elders. For example, the number of nurses and doctors should be increased in order to adapt the increased old populations. Therefore, a huge sum of money has to be spent on educating and training the new nurses and doctors. Another sum of money has to spent on subsidizing the medical expenses of elders. In particular, some serious patients require more carings.
If we want to reduce the impact of aging populations, some measures have to be taken. First, we can increase the population of young people. More young people in the society, more elders can be taken care by them. The young people can support the living of elders, reducing the burden of government. Second, more funding should be provided for the old people, improving the living quality of them like vital healthcare, accommodation and transport facilities.
In conclusion, various measures can be be taken to tackle the problems that are certain to arise as the populations of the senior citizens grow older.
