Considering the three types of resistance (i.e., to awareness, to revealing ignorance, and to change), reflect on your education and training to this point and try to identify instances in which you may have responded with each type of resistance. Next, try to imagine future situations that could evoke such reactions. Finally, because all of us are likely to show resistance in some areas, what matters most is that we learn to recognize and cope with the resistance productively. As you think of what might evoke resistance and how you would recognize resistance in yourself, consider how you could learn to understand your resistance and work with it to allow yourself to change.
