Why take the time.
a. Observe an instance when you believe a teacher took a problem-solving approach to mistaken behavior. What seemed to be the immediate and possible long-term outcomes for the children involved? Using your observations as a guide, reflect about the text position that problem solving mistaken behavior is worth the time.
b. Interview a teacher who takes a problem-solving approach to mistaken behavior. What are the priorities of the teacher when she intervenes? What does the teacher want children to learn from the intervention? How do the teacher’s priorities compare with principles from NAEYC’s Code of Ethical Conduct in Appendix A?
