B: Introduction:
In the Book of Acts the gift of the Holy Spirit and the powerful effect of this gift is revealed as Jesus promised. Jesus told the Apostles, Acts:1:8, (NLT), “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”
Thesis Statement:
The promise of the Holy Spirit was full-filled in the Upper Room, at Pentecost, tongues of fire rested over everyone head. Acts 2:1-4, (KJV) “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance”.
The Apostles were never left alone to fulfill the Great Commission, God equipped them with the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:18-20, (NIV), “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

A: The Apostles are told to wait, and are given commands from Jesus about the Holy Spirit
