Dylan Bach: The world according to Dylan
1. Discuss how some of Dylan’s symptoms conform to a diagnosis of ASD and how some symptoms and behaviors are not in the predicted direction.
2. In terms of differential diagnosis, how do Dylan’s behaviours fit with a profile of HFASD relative to that of LFASD or NLD? Use illustrations from Sandy’s case (Case # 6) and Dylan’s case presentations to compare and contrast the most salient features.
3. Provide some possible explanations for the wide discrepancies in ratings between the three raters (two teachers and a parent). Discuss these potential differences relative to various levels of influence of developmental contexts suggested by Bronfenbrenner’s model. Design an intervention program drawing on the strengths of both classroom programs.
