• What do you think of Begany’s (1994) images of caring? What does caring mean to you?
• Williams (1995) believed that organizations are gender biased in how they regard masculine behaviors versus feminine ones. She suggested the development of gender-sensitive evaluation tools that would acknowledge women’s contributions to the profession. If you were appointed to develop such an evaluation tool, what attributes would your tool reward and recognize as unique to women? What justice issues may be involved in using gender-sensitive evaluation processes?
• Goals of the American Assembly for Men in Nursing include supporting men already in nursing and educating society about the benefits of male nurses. What do you think are the benefits to patients and society of nurses who are men? How do these differ from the benefits of nurses who are women?
