- Set-Up: Explain the argument that you will focus on in your paper, in no more than 5-ish sentences. (If you’d like to formalize it, you can.)
- Development: Choose whether or not you will critique or defend the argument. Then answer the relevant question below, in no more than 7-ish sentences.
- If you’re critiquing the argument, explain which premise (or premises) you think is false, and why. (You can also explain why plausible responses to your objection would not work.)
- If you’re defending the argument, explain how someone might object to the argument (i.e. which premise they might think is false and why). Then explain why that objection does not work.
- Double check: have you included an original argument, per the paper instructions in the syllabus?
