a. Conduct the mediation of a conflict using the five-finger formula. Record what you and the children said and did, including the follow-up. Referring to the text, write a brief reflection about how each step went and which steps, if any, you skipped or merged. When you mediate a conflict in the future, what did you learn from this instance of conflict mediation that may help you? Discuss why. Tie your discussion to ideas from the text.

b. Interview the teacher about the steps she follows when she uses conflict mediation. Ask the teacher about the two potential potholes? Record the main points from the interview. Which of the five steps did the teacher mention? What did the teacher say about the potholes? Compare your findings with what the book says about conflict mediation.
