When intervention is necessary.
a. Observe an instance when a teacher used guidance to intervene in a serious conflict. How do the apparent reasons for the intervention correspond to the reasons for intervening presented in the chapter? What combination of crisis management and conflict management techniques did the teacher use? In guidance terms (teaching, not punishing) assess the outcome of the intervention. Compare your findings to ideas from the chapter.
b. Interview a teacher who uses guidance about the reasons she has for when to intervene. Ask about steps the teacher takes to calm everyone down and to resolve the conflict. How does the teacher ensure that guidance and not punishment is being used in the intervention? Compare your findings to ideas from the chapter
