Be able to demonstrate knowledge of the theoretical concepts of exercise psychology for various populations and its impact on mental health.
The coursework is in three sections:
Section 1: Design a website and an accompanying suitable leaflet that targets/attracts a specific population of your choice. The website and leaflet may identify and briefly describe the various effects of exercise for this target group from a multidisciplinary perspective (i.e., what are the physiological/ psychological effects). However it will focus in more depth on the effect exercise it has on a specific dimension of psychology (self-esteem).
Please ensure:
The content is based on evidence
Focuses on your target audience including only relevant information
The content and language used on your website and leaflet should be relevant and appropriate to the target group
Please note:
? Your website will not ‘go live’ on the web.
? You can use any web design package, however support will only be available for certain programmes – MS Publisher/ FrontPage.
? Submission: please include a paper copy of your website pages as they appear on your screen. This does not need to be in colour. Use your ‘print screen’ option.
(Marks: 30)
Section 1 Marking Criteria:
A target audience has been identified, and various aspects of exercise have been described for this population. The webpage and the leaflet are appropriate in terms of design, language use and content.
A target area of psychology has been identified relevant to the target audience and communicated in an appropriate manner in both the link page and the leaflet in terms of design, language use and content
Section 2: Produce a 200 word explanation and justification (word count required) of the design and content of your website and your leaflet. This is best summarised as: who (target audience), what (content) and why (format).
(Marks: 10)
Section 2 Marking Criteria:
A clear justification and explanation of the website and leaflet have been given which are congruent with the content of Section 1. There is a clear understanding of the chosen target audience.
Section 3: Provide a 1000 word critique of the evidence that has been used to inform the content of Section 1 (i.e., your website page and leaflet). This should:
? Provide a justification for the content used and conclusions drawn
? Address the issues in the research
? Be correctly referenced (not included in your word count), see student handbook for referencing advice.
? Be no more than 1000 words (word count required).
(Marks: 60)
Section 3 Marking Criteria:
There is evidence of critique surrounding the research presented. There is a clear link with the weight of evidence discussed in the critique with the claims made in Section 1 of the coursework. The research used should be clearly linked to the target audience and where this is not possible an adequate justification for its inclusion must be made. (60 Marks)
Hand-in process:
? Please ensure you submit a hardcopy to the i-zone by: 9th of December 2016
In summary, your hardcopy submission must include:
1. A paper copy of your website pages as they appear on your screen (See Section 1).
2. Leaflet 1 (See Section 1).
3. A 200 word explanation and justification of your website and leaflet (See Section 2).
4. A 1000 word critique of the evidence that informs the content of Part 2 (See Section 3).
