It was, however, sufficiently rowdy to cause concern amongst those sheltering within the Embassy. Unfortunately, there was a gun inside the Embassy and a shot was fired from the Embassy into the crowd of demonstrators, killing one Australian citizen. It was later discovered that the person who fired the shot was the daughter of the Russian Ambassador. Can she be prosecuted under ACT or Australian law? If the Ambassador’s daughter returns to Russia, can the family of the deceased demonstrator bring a claim for compensation against the Russian State?
