Reflection
General Instructions
· Your reflection should be at least 600 words and include any relevant citations. A reference list is not required (and does not count toward the word count). Please do use a formal writing style, making sure to avoid first and second person, contractions, titles of articles (use correct APA style), and quoted material (explain in your own words).
· Your reflection should be single-spaced with size 10 font and 1-inch margins. There is a 2-point deduction for each of these requirements in addition to the content deduction for a “short” assignment.
First, watch Baby’s Innate Number Sense Predicts Future Math Skill
First, thoroughly summarize the study presented in the video. Make sure to include the purpose of the study, a detailed account of the method, and a summary of the results.
Then explain why looking longer at the changing number of dots (as opposed to the constant 10 dots) indicated that the babies knew the number of dots was changing. Reach back to one of the articles from Module 1 for your answer and use the main idea of the article to explain why attention could be used as an indicator that the baby detected the change. Then explain what the pattern of looking times would be for babies who do not detect the change in the number of dots in the one screen.
Finally, use the information from this video to propose a study on dogs and numeracy. Make sure to clearly state the purpose of the study, describe the method in detail, and explain what the results would look like if they supported your hypothesis.
