This is not a difficult assignment. You simply call the prospective pastor and explain your student status and this class assignment. Request a few minutes for the interview. Be certain that it is convenient for the pastor. It may be necessary to make an appointment. If so, be certain to note the date and time, then be at least five minutes early. Be punctual! If circumstances develop beyond your control, then be professionally courteous and call to explain and offer to come another time.
If you already know this pastor, maybe going to lunch would be a good way to interview and spend time with him/her.
Explain that you need a mentor for this course, and would appreciate their help. In addition to this interview, his/her responsibility would be to give one hour each week (only 4 meetings are required in the 8 week period) during the course to talk with you, answer your queries, and pray with you about God’s will and purpose for your life. Again, only 4 meetings are required; no more, no less. Provide to the pastor the instructor’s email address and, after each mentoring visit with you, the pastor should send a short email (1) certifying that you have met with him/her, (2) outlining the subject material discussed, and (3) giving a brief impression of your comprehension of pastoral ministry.

After the interview is complete, you need to (1) write a report giving your reactions, impressions, etc. to the interviewed pastor’s answers. Include any questions and/or insight this interview may have generated, and (2) turn in the completed questionnaire by 11:55 PM ET on the last day of the course.
