In so doing, they have found themselves in a legal minefield as they try to balance the rights of the accuser and the accused. Evidence of this problem can be found in the fact that more than 30 male students who had been accused of sexual assault sued their educational institutions between January 2014 and April 2015 alleging due-process violations. A research paper on this topic could begin by documenting the extent to which sexual assault is believed to be a problem on college campuses. With that information as a base, the student would then describe the complex and often conflicting challenges that must be addressed in order to achieve a resolution that is fair to all concerned.
