Q2: We have a reactor in which the elementary reaction A 2B takes place in liquid phase with k = 0.15 The theoretical volume of the reactor is 430 L. In order to characterize the behavior of the reactor a pulse tracer test has been performed with a volumetric flow rate of 50 L/min. The concentrations measured at the exit of the reactor are the following ones:
t (min) C (nig/L)
t (min) C (me-)
0 I 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 0 0 0 0 10 190 161.5 123.5 95 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 i 76 58.9 43.7 20.9 7.6 1.9 0.38 0.095 0.0019
1. Calculate the degree of conversion for the reaction with the segregation model. 2. Repeat the previous part using the maximum mixedness model. 3. In view of the curves E and F, indicate a possible model which represents reasonably the behavior of the reactor. Determine the parameters of the model, compare the model with the actual behavior of the reactor and calculate the conversion using this model.
