Assignment 2
Assignment 2 Description: Students will be presented with a construction business case study with
information material which can be downloaded from either the link provided in Blackboard at the
beginning of the semester, or from the link above. Students will be required to thoroughly read the
information in the case and analyse the content, then answer the questions listed in the Assignment
2 instructions.
Students are required to provide answers to the questions, based on both details in the case and on
theory and other examples in course content from lectures and reading material. The total length of
Assignment 2 should be at least a minimum of 1,200 up to a maximum of 1,500 words, not
including a list of references used. (Submissions will only be marked up to the 1500 words limit.
Assignment 2 Instruction: Read case study 2 “Escapes Outdoor Living Designs Inc.” carefully and
answer following:
• Provide a summary of the case and the problems discussed. (20%)
• If you were Harrison, would you continue the business as is, or significantly change the focus of the
business? If you would change it, would you use Harrison’s ideas or something different? What
factors are the most important when considering this change? (30%)
• Looking at Escape’s financial statements, what is most important to consider in moving forward?
Are there any red flags for profitability? (20%)
• Should Harrison be concerned with the lack of employee loyalty, or just recognise that it is part of
the challenge of a new company in this industry? If you are concerned, what can Harrison do to
retain employees?
