COVID-19 Infographic

An infographic is a visual representation of factual information and the relationship between pieces of information.  It is supposed to present information in a way that the reader can easily grasp the key points of the concept and can instantly see how the concept is relevant to real life.  An infographic gives substance to the idea that “a picture is worth a thousand words.”

Non-profit agencies need information about HOW TO AVOID COVID-19 to share with their clients and their staff. This is where you come in!

Your task:

1) Determine whether you want to develop an infographic for non-profit clients OR non-profit staff.  In other words, you will choose to develop an infographic to educate clients about avoiding COVID-19 (“Protect Yourself from COVID-19 for Agency Clients”) OR to educate staff about avoiding COVID-19 (“Avoiding COVID-19 for Non-Profit Staff”).

2) Design an infographic suitable for giving clients to educate them about protecting themselves from COVID-19 or for staff about safety measures about COVID-19.  In other words, this should be something that clients could read to become better informed on caring for their own health and staff could read to protect themselves in the workplace.  Your infographic must contain the following information at minimum (although you should include more information):

  1. Define the issue (i.e., What is COVID-19?  How is it spread?).
  2. Use factsabout the issue (i.e., What are the facts about safely avoiding COVID?).
  3. Describe the current best practices around COVID safety(i.e., What is the best practice on santitization, masks, feeling ill, etc?) and what are specific, concrete steps the client or staff member can take to better manage the issue.  Please be very clear that this is not to be “general” information.  This is to be specific information about the client’s and staff’s environment and behavior that will measurably assist them in having better health outcomes regarding COVID.  Make sure you are using scientific information from reputable scientific sources, not hearsay or “what you heard” or “what you believe” (belief and fact are not always the same thing).
  4. Any other interesting facts that can help the client or staff member better protect themselves.

3) Infographics have two parts: CONTENT and DESIGN.  Your infographic must be accurate AND visually appealing.  Under no circumstances should you use MS Word (or any other MS product) to create your Infographic.  You must make your infographic look like an infographic!

  1. There are many “free” Infographic creators online.  **Some of these will not let you download or send your infographic without paying–make sure you understand what the website requires beforeyou use it!!**  Do not use PowerPoint–use one of these (or find another that you like):
  2. com
  3. com
  4. com

**There are many COVID-related infographics out there—DO NOT COPY ANYTHING FROM ANY SOURCE. Your assignment is very specific to this class; you may not plagiarize in any way on this assignment.  All work must be yours and yours alone.  You may not use quotes from any source, whether accurately cited or not.**
