This upper-division research seminar fulfills a requirement in the International Relations and Global Studies major, and is reserved for IRG majors. The course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop an original research paper under guidance, and receive peer and instructor feedback throughout the course. In the first portion of the course, reading materials are selected to provide a primer on how to devise social scientific inquiry, and provide a primer on available research methodologies. Weekly readings also supply students with exemplary research designs stemming from the four pillars of the major. FINAL PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSIGNMENT: Prepare a public relations campaign proposal for an event, product, organization or company of your choosing. The topic must be approved by the instructor. The written proposal should be approximately five pages and should include the following. My proposal is to raise awareness and funds about Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Executive Summary Situation analysis Pertinent Research Available Goal Publics Strategy Action Communication-including specific tactics Schedule Budget Evaluation Plan Sample-one sample i.e. news release, psa, pitch letter, etc. The proposal will be presented to the class with visuals during the last week of class.
