You will need to choose just ONE CASE to “formally analyse” in addition to reviewing all the cases at the end of the chapters within the Northouse textbook. Please keep in mind that this analysis is an intrinsic part of the course, therefore, I would do as well as you possible can in performing these analyses. You should clearlyinclude the underlined captions in each section in your discussion, to organize your post. Posts should be 1-2 pages single spaced in MLA Format.
You can acquire 5 points total for each analysis. It is important that you thoroughly address each section to acquire all 5 points for each analysis.
Formatting your Case Analysis: (all 5 sections should be included)
1. Title of the Case and Case Number
2. Executive Summary – An executive summary is a brief synopsis of the overall case. In business, an executive is not going to take the time to read an entire report. Instead, her/she will read the executive summary which should include:
a. Problems and subproblems you identified
b. Alternative solutions at which you arrived
c. Your recommendations or courses of action that you feel the firm/company should take.
(I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOUR COMPLETE SECTIONS #3-5 FIRST, THEN COMPLETE THE EXECUTUVE SUMMARY SECTION)
3. General Analysis of the Case – This part should be the key part of the analysis, as it is here where you identify the problems, subproblems, formulate alternative solutions to those problems, including the pros and cons of each. You should carefully identify the advantages and disadvantages of all solutions identified. When writing this section, your thinking should be purely analytical, not judgmental and it should rely on the material presented within the corresponding chapter of the textbook. This section should outline all the possibilities.
4. Recommendations and Implementation – A detailed statement and justification of your recommendations based on those conclusions should be presented in this part of the analysis. As mentioned above, your recommendations are those alternative solutions that have more advantages than disadvantages. Your recommendations should address the whos, whats, whens, hows, and whys of decision making. It is in this section where you are making judgments as to which alternative solution will best rectify the problem(s).
5. Conclusions – In this section, you should tie your entire analysis together for the reader. The reader should understand the thought process that you utilized in the analysis of the situation facing the company, the process you used in identifying the problems facing the company, the process you utilized in identifying and analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of feasible alternatives, and the recommendations you made to resolve the problems or issues facing the firm and help it to operate in a more successful manner.
NOTE:Please read the Directions for Case Analysis Discussion Posts written above. Please choose only one case analysis from 3.3, 4.1 or 4.3. And try to pick something short and easy to understand as I am going to discuss it in-person with the professor!
NOTE: DO NOT include external sources at all!! Use YOUR OWN WORDS ONLY when doing the assignment!
